Painless Proficiency | Implementing Research-Based Best Practices Without Stress

$300.00

One-Hour Session for World Language Teachers

Proficiency-based instruction is great for students, but making the shift can be daunting for teachers. In this interactive workshop, participants will discuss what proficiency-based instruction IS, what it ISN’T, and how to address some of its biggest challenges. They will investigate how a traditional instructional approach can dovetail into proficiency-based learning at points such as goal setting, selecting instructional resources, and assessment. Teachers will leave with practical techniques and manageable steps to implement more proficiency-based instruction without the pain of completely changing everything in their curriculum.

In this session participants will:

  • Review research behind proficiency-based instruction and understand why it is considered best practice

  • Discuss common objections to proficiency-based instruction and learn techniques to address these challenges in the classroom

  • Explore practical techniques to include more proficiency-based activities (without changing everything you’re doing now!)

  • Leave with assessment tools to help manage proficiency-based grading.

In-person or virtual formats available.

Just wanted to say thanks for coming to our fall kick-off. I had TONS of teachers tell me not only how much they enjoyed your opening and break out sessions, but also how much they learned from them! It is by far the most positive feedback I’ve gotten, so thank you

I am planning to add more of the activities shared by Lisa for next school year. I find them not only original and highly motivating, but also rich in content and strategies for our students.
